SEVERN TRENT DROP IN SESSION

22ND NOVEMBER 2016
AT VILLAGE HALL 3.30-5.30 PM

We will go through a number of different things to cover the events of the supply interruptions, this will include;

History,
Causes
Interventions
Future Plans

It won’t be a set agenda, as we will have it displayed for people to be able to see visually. This way people can ask questions as and when.

The current water shortage is due to another burst watermain.  (07.11.16)

There are bottles of water at the Village Hall for anyone in need.

Believe they hope to reconnect by 7pm

They have booked to visit the village on 22nd November to update on past problems and future plans.  More information in due course

As further water bursts may be anticipated due to what appears to be on ongoing problem up Barton Road a supply of bottled water is now available at Village Hall (21st October 2016) . Do please collect some so have a contingency stock pending next burst. If all gone please contact Parish Clerk who can organise for more to be brought out of stock supplied previously by Severn Trent.

Village Hall News

Record turn outs at both the Shunters Folk Evening and October Social Saturday over the village harvest celebration weekend meant that not only did have everyone have a great time but that we have now raised sufficient funds this year to invest in redecorating the hall throughout.

This we hope will increase still further the hall’s attraction as a versatile venue suitable for all types of gathering, both business and pleasure. We anticipate that redecoration will take place early in the New Year when there is a slight lull in bookings.

We could do with more volunteers to help out with catering at Social Saturdays and our various fund raising events throughout the year. If you are able to help out in even a very small way, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact Carole, details below.

County Councillor and Tesco Bags for Life Grants

Pleased to report that work to the disabled access funded by the County Councillor Grant is largely complete and has made a vast improvement to access for those in wheelchairs and with pushchairs.

The Play Area refurbishment is slightly behind schedule due to delays in delivery of some of the equipment.  However pleased with positive responses so far to new equipment installed to date.  Hope to have area fully open by early September.

An Celebratory Event is planned - more details in due course.

PRESS RELEASE FROM SEVERN TRENT - MONDAY 8TH AUGUST 2016

“On Friday we found a burst pipe in the Banbury area which caused some of our customers to have no water supply or poor pressure.  The burst pipe led to air getting into the pipe network and as the air has travelled through the system, this has led to further issues and further bursts.  This has meant that unfortunately some customers have had an intermittent water supply as we’ve dealt with each issue in turn.

“We’ve managed to get the majority of customers back onto supply, but we know some people in the Long Compton and Shipston-on-Stour areas are still without water.

“We’re doing everything we can to resolve the issue - moving water around our network of pipes to bring in water from surrounding areas, bringing water into the area in tankers and we’re also supplying bottled water to those people affected.

“Our teams have been working round the clock to deal with these issues and will continue to do so until everything is back to normal.

“We can only apologise for what must be a very difficult time for those customers affected.”

A second bottled water drop is being organised.
