PRESS RELEASE FROM SEVERN TRENT - MONDAY 8TH AUGUST 2016

“On Friday we found a burst pipe in the Banbury area which caused some of our customers to have no water supply or poor pressure.  The burst pipe led to air getting into the pipe network and as the air has travelled through the system, this has led to further issues and further bursts.  This has meant that unfortunately some customers have had an intermittent water supply as we’ve dealt with each issue in turn.

 

“We’ve managed to get the majority of customers back onto supply, but we know some people in the Long Compton and Shipston-on-Stour areas are still without water.

“We’re doing everything we can to resolve the issue - moving water around our network of pipes to bring in water from surrounding areas, bringing water into the area in tankers and we’re also supplying bottled water to those people affected.

 

“Our teams have been working round the clock to deal with these issues and will continue to do so until everything is back to normal. 

“We can only apologise for what must be a very difficult time for those customers affected.”

 

A second bottled water drop is being organised.
