1820 was a turbulent year for Long Compton Nonconformists.  As a result a new Church was formed, the Independent.  In those days Samuel West gathered his followers together and they decided to build the Ebenezer Chapel.

The members although, joined by covenant with the Congregational Church in England and Wales, are still independent in spirit.  We welcome all of like mind.  However, we can claim today that our relations with our neighbours are friendly and co-operative.  May they always remain so.

The Chapel has reinvented itself and now puts great emphasis on putting faith and community as core values mixing services with a diversity of other events and enterprises to ensure that the building fulfils a multifunctional role to enhance village life.

The adjacent Manse houses a family and helps to provide an income which goes towards running costs, but grant support is required to help fund the various renovation works required to the fabric of the building.
